Start from Scratch: An Introduction to Coding for Juniors

Introduction to Coding with Scratch is a workshop designed to introduce young learners to the world of coding using Scratch, a block-based programming language developed by MIT. This workshop is intended for students in grades 1-2 with little to no coding experience.

Over the course of the workshop, students will learn the basic principles of coding through engaging and interactive projects. They will be introduced to the Scratch interface and learn how to create and animate their own characters, backgrounds, and objects using simple drag-and-drop commands.

Students will also learn about concepts such as loops, conditional statements, and events. By the end of the workshop, they will have completed several projects and games, including a maze game, a virtual pet, and a storytelling animation.

Through this workshop, students will not only gain technical skills but also develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity. They will gain confidence in their ability to create and will be equipped with foundational knowledge and skills to continue their coding journey.

No prior coding experience is required to participate in this workshop, and all necessary software and equipment will be provided.
